How to Use
GETTING STARTED
Note: No tools required for setup.
1. Unpack all parts and accessories listed in the LITTER BOX PARTS section of
this Use & Care manual. If applicable, remove any stickers.
2. Find a location for your LitterMaid
®
Litter Box in a clean, dry place.
Note: For optimal performance, do not place your LitterMaid® litter box in
moist environment or in direct sunlight.
3. Cut or remove restraints on the underside of the unit.
4. Before use, remove the zip tie wraps on each end of
the motor housing (B).
5. To set up backup battery power, push up on the ridges
of the battery compartment cover, then remove battery
door.
Note: Battery compartment takes 8 "AA" cell batteries.
(Batteries not included.)
Important: Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline and
carbon-zinc (standard) batteries. Do not use rechargeable type (Ni-Cad, Ni-MH
or Li-ion) batteries.
ASSEMBLY
1. Slide receptacle supports marked L (left) and R (right)
into grooves on front of the litter tray until they lock
into place (C).
2. Place both left and right flaps flat on top of the waste
receptacle compartment panel.
3. Push the flaps in and up until they click into place (D).
4. Lift the flaps until they lock into place (E).

5. Snap each pivot of the waste receptacle compartment
cover, one at a time, into notches in the receptacle
supports (F).
6. Open waste receptacle compartment cover.
Important: Waste receptacle compartment cover must be
opened to remove and install top housing.
7. Lift top housing. Angle into position bracket end of top
housing under tray ledge.
Important: White bar in front of the top housing must be
under the front edge of the litter tray (G).
8. Bring the other end of top housing down so that it snaps
into place. Check to be sure top housing is positioned
securely on the tray.
9. If Cat Privacy Tent is not being used, place one of the plugs in each of the
plug holes on the top housing.
PREPARING THE WASTE RECEPTACLE
1. Open waste receptacle compartment cover.
2. Place disposable waste receptacle into the waste receptacle compartment.
Make sure the receptacle is aligned properly with the receptacle supports.
3. Make sure the front edge of the waste receptacle is
under the edge of the top housing, between it and the
edge of the litter tray (H).
Note: There should be no gap between the litter tray and
the waste receptacle.
4. Attach the waste receptacle lid by inserting PUSH tabs
into the round holes. To secure, press in and down at the
positions indicated to slip the edges of the lid under the
tabs on the waste receptacle compartment cover (both
sides) (J).
5. Remove carbon filter from plastic sleeve. Peel off paper
strip to expose the adhesive. Place filter adhesive side
down in diamond-shaped insert in the center of the
waste receptacle lid (K).
6. Close waste receptacle compartment cover.
FILLING LITTER TRAY
1. Fill your box so the litter level is between the MIN and MAX fill lines on
either side of the litter box.
2. Use the scoop & rake cleaner to evenly distribute litter in the litter tray.
